Having a relaxing day today sorting out my studio when I came across some anatomical paintings that I did early in 2011 and I haven’t shown them to anyone outside of my family. They relate to my old career, but nonetheless are part of my artistic journey, “journey”… I don’t particularly like that word “journey” in this context….artistic development I feel is a better word for me.
“I made the feet, and threw them away, discarded on the workshop floor. Perhaps one day they may be useful to someone!”
What do you think, keep or bin?

I love the term ~ Artistic Development ~
You made the feet?! The look real!! Freaks me out a bit! I regret to say that I am not one consistent with the arts besides dance and music. I never heard of Anatomical paintings and now I’m tempted to google it!
Where would you hang it if you keep it and what will come of it in the future if you bin it?
Yes I made the feet, anatomical drawing has its roots as far back as Leonardo De Vinci, who for me was the greatest.
Silly me! Yes that is true! And so I have seen plenty of anatomical paintings then!
But the one you’ve made seemed like a first for me, so different from what I am used too! Maybe that’s what makes it a keeper then.
Never throw anything away! (Well, this is what my old fella the artist keeps telling me.) Besides, I like them.
Probably good advice too, thanks.
My own philosophy is hang it and live with it for 30 days – if I can’t stand to look at it anymore then I will work it until I can. If it becomes overworked or refuses to talk to me I cut it up and incorporate it into another work. If it refuses to be incorporated – adios…
Thanks John, well I have hung it over the head of my bed, so unless it falls of the wall I shan’t see it that often!
It’s disturbing to look at, but art is about provoking the emotion, and this painting does just that!
Thank you “NYP” I am pleased it has stirred your emotions, therefore it is a successful piece of art for me.
It is definitely a successful piece of art!
I prefer the tankard. I like the idea of not throwing anything away but I just can’t do it. If it stays in the studio it gets painted over some day!
Thanks for your opinion Andy, I prefer the tankard as well, especially when full.
pure emotion !
Thank you Swiss Banana
